The time has come to prove your skills on the gridiron and earn your position on the roster for the 2025 season. This year, the Centurions are hosting open tryouts on two dates: November 16th and November 23rd. Both sessions will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the South Park Recreation Center, providing an excellent opportunity for sworn first responders to showcase their talents in front of the coaching staff and secure a place on the team.
Details:
Who: Any sworn, full-time first responder. Be sure to spread the word and recruit players from your divisions, etc. Any prospective players with questions can reach team vice president, Hector Aceves, at 35717@lapd.online.
When: November 16 and November 23, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Where: South Park Recreation Center, located at 345 E 51st Street in Los Angeles
What to Expect at Tryouts:
Gear: No helmets or pads are required during tryouts, but players should bring cleats, gloves and athletic attire, ready for a rigorous portrayal of their skills. Those looking to join the offensive team should wear lighter-colored shirts (white or grey), while the defensive players wear darker colors (black or navy blue).
Skills Assessment: Players will undergo drills designed to assess key football skills such as speed, agility, strength, and technical abilities.
Position-Specific Drills: Whether you're aiming for a spot as a quarterback, lineman, receiver, or any other position, you'll participate in drills tailored to your specific role.
Coaching Feedback: Throughout the tryouts, coaches will provide real-time feedback, helping you understand where you excel and where you can improve.
Registration: the NPSFL requires bios and waivers from each player. If you have not filled these out for the 2025 season prior to tryouts, you will have an opportunity to do it at the beginning of tryouts.
Preparation Tips:
Conditioning: Ensure you're in peak physical condition. The Centurions are looking for players who are not only skilled but also have the endurance to last through a rigorous season. We want to avoid as many injuries as possible.
Football IQ: Brush up on your understanding of the game. Knowing plays, formations, and strategies can set you apart.
Teamwork: Football is a team sport. Show that you can work well with others, communicate effectively on the field, and bring a positive attitude to the team.
The LA Centurions are committed to building a strong, competitive team for the 2025 season, and this is your chance to be a part of it. Whether you're a seasoned player or looking to take your game to the next level, the Centurions encourage all eligible first responders to attend these tryouts.
The 2025 season schedule will be set by mid-November and players should plan to be at every game, which is anticipated to be six games from March to June. Beginning in early January 2025, the team will hold weekly practices at South Park. These Saturday practices will run through the season.
